OFFICE ON AGING
The Office on Aging provides centralized access to diverse programs and individualized services for older adults, dependent adults and their families so they can preserve their independence.

ALCOHOL, DRUG AND
MENTAL HEALTH BOARD (ADAMH)
ADAMH helps Franklin County residents find the right places to turn for alcohol, drug addiction and mental health services. Its role is to fund, plan and evaluate mental and behavioral health care services to ensure that providers offer the best quality programs and respond to evolving community needs.

ANIMAL CARE & CONTROL
The Department of Animal Care and Control enforces the dog laws in Franklin County and keeps the public safe from animal-related health or safety dangers. The department also operates the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center with the mission of providing compassionate care for impounded animals, as well as adoption and lost dog services to the community.

AUDITOR
The Franklin County Auditor's Office handles a wide variety of responsibilities that affect all of Franklin County's residents and businesses. The office licenses dogs, as required by state law; assesses property values that determine property taxes, and helps senior, veteran and disabled populations get tax relief.

CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT AGENCY
The mission of the Franklin County Child Support Enforcement Agency is to enhance family development and stability by providing innovative child support services that emphasize empathy, education, accountability and collaboration.

CHILDREN SERVICES
Franklin County Children Services is the public agency mandated by federal and state law to ensure that our community's children are safe and well cared for. The agency provides protection, care and permanency for children who are abused, neglected or dependent.

BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners is the administrative head of Franklin County government and manages an annual budget of $1.5 billion. The Commissioners directly oversee 15 departments, offices and agencies, including Job & Family Services, the Office on Aging, and Child Support Enforcement.

CORONER
The Franklin County Coroner's Office investigates all deaths by violence, criminal means, suicide, or any unattended death whatever the cause. The office provides identification, performs autopsies or medical examinations, and carries out any other requirements in regard to deaths that fall in the categories mentioned above.

COURTS AND JUDICIAL SERVICES
CLERK OF COURTS
The Franklin County Clerk of Courts Office is responsible for managing all legal documents filed through the Court of Common Pleas and the 10th District Court of Appeals, as well as managing automobile titling proof of vehicle ownership.
COMMIN PLEAS - GENERAL DIVISION
The Franklin County Court of Common Pleas-General Division has original jurisdictional authority over all felony cases and all civil cases in which the sum or matter in dispute exceeds $15,000.
COMMON PLEAS - DOMESTIC RELATIONS
& JUVENILE DIVISION
The Franklin County Court of Common Pleas-Domestic Relations and Juvenile Division provides resolution to matters and disputes arising under the law involving families and children.
10TH DISTRICT COURT OF APPEALS
The 10th District Court of Appeals hears appeals from all divisions of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, the Franklin County Municipal Court, the Ohio Court of Claims and numerous state agencies.
FRANKLIN COUNTY MUNICIPAL COURT
The Franklin County Municipal Court’s jurisdiction includes traffic cases, misdemeanor criminal cases; civil cases where the amount at issue is $15,000 or less; and cases involving local codes. Despite its jurisdiction and name, the Franklin County Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the
City of Columbus government.
PROBATE COURT
The jurisdiction of the Franklin County Probate Court includes administration of estates, guardianships, trusts, involuntary civil commitment procedures, adoptions, birth certificates, name changes and marriage licenses.
GUARDIANSHIP SERVICE BOARD
The Guardianship Service Board serves those with presenting situations that require legal authority to act, such as health care or residential decisions, and those with no other adult or entity available and/or appropriate to be guardian.

BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES
The Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities operates a county agency providing educational, employment and support services to children and adults of all ages who have developmental disabilities.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & PLANNING
The Franklin County Economic Development & Planning Department provides funding and technical assistance to support community development activities and initiatives in Franklin County outside the auspices of the City of Columbus. The department also is responsible for all zoning, code enforcement and land-use planning activities in the unincorporated area of Franklin County.

Franklin County residents can register to vote, check their registration, find their polling places, request a mail-in ballot or gather any other information they need about local, county, state and national elections through the Franklin County Board of Elections..

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
& HOMELAND SECURITY
Franklin County Emergency Management & Homeland Security coordinates and prepares for county-wide all-hazards disaster planning, community education, warning, training, grant funding, response and recovery efforts in order to prepare and protect the citizens of Franklin County before, during, and after natural and man-made disasters.

ENGINEER
The Franklin County Engineer's Office is responsible for the maintenance and construction of 260 miles of county roadway, including snow and ice removal, flood control and erosion prevention. The office also maintains land records;

JOB & FAMILY SERVICES
The Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services is a county, state and federally supported agency responsible for basic financial, medical and social services programs.The department also provides education and training for public assistance customers along with the necessary support services to help them find quality jobs and move from welfare to independence.

JUSTICE POLICY & PROGRAMS
The Office of Justice Policy & Programs serves as the metropolitan county criminal justice services agency. The agency has responsibility for all county initiatives regarding justice grants, re-entry planning and program recommendations, and domestic violence/intimate partner violence prevention and services.

PROSECUTING ATTORNEY
The mission of the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office is to thoroughly and vigorously prosecute criminal offenders in order to protect the citizens of Franklin County and obtain justice for victims of crime. The office also provides legal representation and advice to governmental clients.

PUBLIC DEFENDERS
The Franklin County Public Defenders Office provides comprehensive legal representation services in criminal, juvenile and custody proceedings to indigent persons in Franklin County.

PUBLIC HEALTH
Franklin County Public Health provides service to all of the townships and villages in Franklin County, as well as 15 cities.The agency works to prevent disease, promote healthy living and protect against public health threats through education, policies, programs and partnerships.

RECORDER
The mission of the Franklin County Recorder's Office is to record, preserve, protect and retrieve real estate, personal property and other records for the public so their property interests are safeguarded and records can be efficiently retrieved.

SANITARY ENGINEERING
The Department of Sanitary Engineering provides water and sewer service to approximately 40,000 residents of Franklin County. The department operates one water treatment plant and four sewage treatment plants, and it maintains nine sewer systems whose discharge eventually is processed under contract by the City of Columbus.

SHERIFF
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is tasked with the responsibility of preserving the peace of the public, overseeing the enforcement of court orders, providing courthouse security and supervising both
Franklin County Corrections Centers.

VETERANS SERVICE COMMISSION
The Veterans Service Commission is dedicated to helping veterans, active duty members of the Armed Forces of the United States, and their dependents. The agency provides guidance, resources, immediate financial assistance and access to benefits for those it serves.
